Vol. 1 No. 1 (2025): Annals of African Education

This inaugural issue of the Annals of African Education marks a significant milestone in the advancement of critical scholarship on education across the African continent. As a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal, we are committed to providing a rigorous platform for the interrogation of educational systems, policies, pedagogies, and practices contextualized within Africa’s diverse socio-cultural, political, and historical landscapes.
Volume 1, Number 1 brings together a collection of original research articles that engage with the dynamic and evolving challenges and opportunities in African education. The contributions examine a range of themes, including curriculum reform, indigenous knowledge integration, teacher development, equity and access, and the role of technology in education delivery. Together, these articles reflect a strong commitment to decolonial epistemologies and context-responsive approaches that promote inclusive, transformative, and sustainable education.
This issue invites scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to critically reflect on how education can be harnessed to address persistent structural inequalities while fostering innovation and resilience. As we launch this journal, we aspire to stimulate robust intellectual exchange and contribute meaningfully to the growing body of African-centered educational research. The Annals of African Education stands as a space for critical engagement, grounded in scholarly excellence and pan-African perspectives.
